Amber mining completed ahead of schedule in Kaliningrad

About 470 tons of raw amber out of 500 tons of minerals mined was sold by the Kaliningrad Amber Combine.

The enterprise completed the plan ahead of schedule, a month before the scheduled time, having extracted 500 tons of amber in the Primorsky quarry. At the same time, 470 tons of the Baltic gem were sold as part of the auction.

Now the company is waiting for the preparations for the new season of 2023, in which it will have to extract the planned 500 tons of amber in the Primorsky quarry and 136 tons to get 136 tons at the Plyazhevsky site of the Palmnikensky quarry.

According to management, amber mining is seasonal. Since the extraction technology uses water that freezes at zero degrees Celsius, production stops during the winter period.

The Kaliningrad Amber Plant is the only enterprise in Russia that produces a full cycle of mineral products – from the extraction of raw materials to the manufacture of jewelry and souvenirs. Currently, the company is developing the Primorsky quarry, which contains about 90% of the world’s reserves of solar stone.
