GTO has a 6% working interest in this acreage: Ascent is the operator with 54%, interest. The blocks are located just offshore Tershelling Noord Island, part of the Frisian Island chain. Three wells have been drilled in the area that have tested gas to surface – M10-1, M11-1 and TEN-2 from the Rotliegendes sandstone reservoir – that has generally low net and poor reservoir quality as its characteristics.
Ascent and its partners have evaluated the potential of the proven, but currently stranded gas reserves, and consider that Terschelling Noord can be produced at sustained commercial rates and underpin the development of the gas resources in this area.
